Camp Site Rules Music Sheet Guitar Fretboard
Welcome to Music Maestro

Please note that the 2011 Summer School has been cancelled due to a lack of interest. This website will remain as a source of information for the 2012 course until it is updated later this year. Thank you for your support.

HAVE YOU ATTENDED A MUSIC SUMMER SCHOOL BEFORE?

We do not mind whether you are a first timer or a seasoned summer school attendee, we hope that you will come to enjoy a week of friendly music making and also be a founder member of our brand new summer school. Why not bring the family for a holiday in a great location? Playing/singing rehearsal times each day will be from 10am until 5pm with refreshment and lunch breaks.

The setting of the summer school is near to the edge of the New Forest and is within an easy drive to Salisbury, Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch and Southampton. There will be a basic campsite on the school grounds with toilet and washing facilities, so tents and caravans can be brought and the fun, friendly atmosphere soaked up all week. Under 18's must be accompanied by parents or a responsible adult to be allowed to use the school site. There are also many other more formal campsites and bed and breakfast facilities in the locality. The local tourist board will be pleased to help arrange alternate accommodation for you. Evenings can be spent sampling the beautiful scenery of the New Forest, and exploring the local villages; Poole Harbour and Old Town; Bournemouth's fine beaches and famous fireworks night; Salisbury's magnificent cathedral, or perhaps just making new friends from all over the country. It is also hoped to have one or two formal evening concerts and a get to know each other family disco during the week.

THE COURSE IS RUN BY STEVE CHISLETT

AN EXPERIENCED MUSIC TEACHER, SUMMER SCHOOL VETERAN AND ADMINISTRATOR

  • The summer school is aimed at music lovers and their families of all ages. To attend, you could be of a semi-professional standard, keen amateur musician or even a raw beginner
  • Minimum performers age is 5
  • Family discounts are offered. We have tried to keep the cost of attendance down to a reasonable level to encourage as many families as possible to attend. There is even a singing group for the non musical members to try!
  • Our tutorial staff come from a broad background mix of music teachers, professional musicians and good amateurs with many years experience. Those working with our under 18's groups will be CRB checked
  • The course culminates with a Friday afternoon concert for some of the training groups and a big full day concert on the Saturday for everyone else
  • There is a Private Licensed Day Nursery on the school site with very limited availability for toddlers on a first come basis so potentially no worries if you have a young family and book early -they will be professionally looked after whilst you enjoy yourselves.
  • If you have no musical experience at all, why not try out our 'never sung before choir'- it may give you the confidence at the end of the week to join an established choir in your area
